II. PTPTN LOAN INFORMATION README

 

  1. DISCLAIMER: The reader is advised to read the latest information found at

PTPTN’s official website http://www.ptptn.gov.my/

If there are any discrepencies between the info found on this website and the

official PTPTN website, the reader is to take the authority of the official PTPTN

website as the overriding and accurate source.

 

  1. Application deadlines are 4 times a year: 7th Feb, 7th March, 7th June and 7th july of every year.

 

  1. It is compulsory for the applicant to open a BCBB (Bumiputera Commerce Bank)

      account. The student rate to open an account as of 2004 is RM10 only.

 

  1. All payments from PTPTN will be channeled into the student’s BCBB account.

 

  1. Get the form from the SCM cashier – pay cash RM5.00 for each.

 

  1. USM Diploma and USM Degree (not SDCIS).

 

  1. Degree – RM16,000 @ year, paid out in 2 payments a year

             (i.e., RM8,000 per semester for two semesters per year).

 

  1. Diploma RM5,000 @ year, paid out in 2 payments a year

             (i.e., RM2,500 per semester for two semesters per year).

 

  1. Note1: Monies will be disbursed on CONDITION that the student’s

                         previous G.P.A. is >= 2.00 (40% or above).  This means that

                         students who do not perform well in the semester will not

                         receive the PTPTN monies for the next semester.

                         This is a ruling from PTPTN not from SCM.

 

  1. Note2: Students who receive approval from PTPTN are still required

                   to make tuition fees payments during the semester while awaiting

                   PTPTN monies.

 

  1. Payback in 20 years à 4% interest (1 year after graduation).

 

  1. 1st class honours result à there is an option for the loan to be converted into a scholarship.

 

  1. Calculations:

RM16,000 @ year x 4% (flat rate)

RM640 @ year interest

20 years = RM640 x 20 + Principal = RM12,800 + RM16,000 = RM28,800

 

RM28,800 payable over 20 years = RM120 per month.

 

  1. You will need to get an offer letter from SOCS Office, AFTER paying the registration fees for the course.

 

  1. Refer to the PTPTN Borang for more information on what items you must include in your application.

 

  1. You will need to see Tuan Haji Khamis (Stamford College Malacca) for consultation and checking of your

PTPTN loan application submission.
