English Language Training Programmes For Workers Under The Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF)

- Offered to all employers registered under the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF)

Pusat Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) under the Ministry of Human Resources recently launched the English Language Training Programmes for Workers on 17 February 2004. This programme aims to develop the English language proficiency level for employees in Malaysia so that they would be better equipped to face challenges and advancement in the global environment.

This programme is open to all employers registered under the HRDF and is fully 100% claimable under the PROLUS Scheme. It provides courses for 3 different categories of employees:

- Certificate in Business English for Executives
- Certificate in Communication English for Workers
- Adult Literacy and Numeracy

CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS ENGLISH
Target Group: Executives in the manufacturing and services industries.

Objective: To develop the English Language proficiency of business executives.

Pre-Requisite: SPM or equivalent.

Course Modules
BEE1 Business English for Executives (Level 1) 60 hours
BEE2 Business English for Executives (Level 2) 60 hours
BEE3 Business English for Executives (Level 3) 60 hours

Total Fees: RM2500.00
CERTIFICATE IN COMMUNICATION ENGLISH
Target Group: Operatives in the manufacturing and services industries.

Objective: To equip participants with the necessary English Language skills for the effective carrying out of daily responsibilities.

Pre-Requisite: Standard 6 education or equivalent.

Course Modules
COMEW1 Communication English for Workers (Level 1) 60 hours
COMEW2 Communication English for Workers (Level 2) 60 hours
COMEW3 Communication English for Workers (Level 3) 60 hours

Total Fees: RM2400.00

ADULT LITERACY AND NUMERACY

Target Group: Adult workers who are unable to read, speak, write and count in the English Language.

Objective: To raise the literacy and numeracy levels for employees of small and medium-sized companies.

Course Modules
ALN1 Adult Literacy and Numeracy (Level 1) 60 hours
ALN2 Adult Literacy and Numeracy (Level 2) 60 hours
ALN3 Adult Literacy and Numeracy (Level 3) 60 hours

Total Fees: RM1800.00

Graduate Training Schemes

This is a free English Language course conducted over six months on a full-time basis, fully sponsored by Pusat Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) under the Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia.
Eligibility:
  1. Malaysians who have graduated with a degree or a diploma from 2003 onwards and have remained unemployed.
  2. Applicants must have completed their studies for at least 6 months and they must not have worked since completion of studies.
Benefits:
- Training course fees are fully paid by PSMB.
- In addition, participants will be paid a monthly allowance of RM 500 for six months.
- Participants will each receive a certificate issued jointly by Stamford College and PSMB on completion
  of the course with at attendance of at least 75%.
- There is no strings attached.

Retrenched Workers Training Scheme

This is a free English Language course conducted over 5 ˝ months on a full-time basis, fully sponsored by Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) under the Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia.
Course:
Certificate in English Proficiency.
Eligibility:
Malaysian workers who are retrenched.
Benefits:
- Training course fees are fully paid by PSMB.
- In addition, participants will be paid a monthly allowance from RM 200 to RM 500 per month, based
  on half the amount of the last-drawn salaries before retrenchment.
- Participants will each receive a certificate issued jointly by Stamford College and PSMB on completion
  of course.
- There is no string attached.

PROLUS Scheme

Stamford College is an Approved Training Provider registered with Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) under the Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia. We are thus able to offer public training programmes to employers under the PROLUS scheme.

Under this scheme, employers do not have to seek prior approval from PSMB to attend our Approved Training Programmes (ATP). In fact, they can choose any of our ATP which meet their training needs and send their employees to attend such training at Stamford College. Upon completion of such training, the employers can submit their claims directly to PSMB for reimbursement.

Eligibility:
Employers registered and/or incorporated in Malaysia that have registered with PSMB and pay the HRD levy are eligible to apply for training grants (financial assistance) immediately upon registration, to defray all or a major portion of the “allowable costs” of training their Malaysian employees.
