Overview

 

The Diploma in Media and Communication is a 2 year 4 months programme that is suited for anyone who is interested in a career in advertising, public relations, broadcasting, marketing, journalism, multimedia, film production and event management. The course combines a study of theories in media and communications with the development of relevant skills and practical projects based on the concept of ‘Project Based Study’ – a blend of theory and practice.  Students will develop an understanding of the different forms and functions of mass communication besides enhancing their research, critical and analytical abilities.

 

The course includes a 5 day hands-on training on the latest techniques of TV and film production at FINAS (National Film Development Corporation, Malaysia). They will be lectured by some of the most respected film makers in the country and will be exposed to broadcasting, news casting and film making. A certificate of completion will be awarded by FINAS and Stamford College at the end of the training.

 

Students also undergo a 3 month internship arranged by the college in the last semester where they will be given the opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice in media and communications and work in an environment suitable for them. This provides the students an added edge as it makes them job-ready and more employable.

Students with media and communications qualifications are well sought after in national and multi-national organisations in Malaysia and abroad. Graduates can work in marketing communications, journalism, public relations, media, advertising and promotion, multimedia, event management a host of other sectors in the media and communications industry.

 

 

Entry Requirements:

 

  • SPM or O-Levels with 3 credits, or
  • LCCI Diploma in Marketing
