School of Media Studies

The School of Media Studies conducts two courses, the Diploma in Media and Communication and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Group Diploma in Marketing.

The mission of the School of Media Studies is to provide students with a broad-based media and communications curriculum incorporating education areas of communication, including public relations, marketing, advertising, journalism, event management, media, and multimedia. Based on these studies, students will derive a comprehensive media and communications education which will hold them in good stead in the industry, both locally and abroad.

The Diploma in Media and Communications and the LCCI Diploma in Marketing are both accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency. This means that the programmes have met with the stipulated standard quality requirements of the Agency which regulates the academic standards of the programmes offered in the country. The Diploma in Media in Communications is linked to the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS) and the LCCI is conducted by the world renowned London Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the United Kingdom.

The course contents of the Diploma in Media and Communications have been carefully deliberated upon by industry and corporate partners to provide students with the necessary training to ensure that graduates of the programme are market-ready and employable. The programme is designed to expose students to real-world problems throughout the courses, allowing for a smooth transition from the classroom to the corporate world.

The School also organises events and extra-curricular activities (Project Based Study) through its Media Club for students which provides actual business situations so as to expose its students to real life scenarios in the corporate world.

Collaboration with corporations provide internships for final semester students where they are assessed by supervisors on their commitment, attitude to work, emotional content and team work, besides others.
