School of Education

The mission of the School of Education is to expose lecturers and would-be lecturers who do not have a Certificate or Diploma in Teaching or equivalent to some aspects of the theory and practice of teaching through our Certificate in Teaching Course (CITC). The advantages of this course are:

  • It is a part-time 32-hour course conducted on Saturdays and does not encroach on lecturing duties on weekdays;
  • It equips lecturers with the necessary knowledge and skills in a cost-effective way compared to a full-time teacher education course;
  • The course is approved by the Malaysian Human Resources Development Ltd (Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Bhd or PSMB) as a Prolus programme, which means that tertiary educational institutions that subscribe to paying a levy to PSMB will be fully reimbursed for the course fee for their staff who attend the CITC.

CITC participants undergo 8 modules covering aspects such the concepts of teaching and learning, development of children and youth, teaching strategies, planning for teaching, use of instructional materials including ICT, assessing teaching and learning, and classroom management. Hundreds of participants both from within and outside Stamford College have attended the course.

The school had also previously conducted the Master of Education programme in collaboration with Deakin University, Victoria, Australia, and the M.A. (Professional Studies in Education) and the Doctorate in Education in partnership with the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.
