School of Engineering, Computing and Information Technology
The School of Engineering, Computing and Information Technology brings together the major areas of Electrical Engineering, Computing along with Business information systems. The synergy between Engineering and Computing provides a dynamism that ensures our programmes are challenging, relevant, highly practical and focused on the skills required in today's workplace.
The school runs and delivers programmes ranging from our home grown foundation and diploma programmes to UEL's electrical and electronics engineering as well as computer networks degree programmes. In the United Kingdom the programmes are accredited by the Institution of Engineering Technology (IET) and the British Computer Society. Students can complete the entire programme at Stamford or study part of it at UEL's campus in London. The school also recently added a MSc Technology Management programme to provide specialized training in managing Information Technology. Topics covered include Project Management, Internet Applications, Multimedia Design and Global Sustainable ICT Management.
The school has dedicated laboratory facilities for both engineering and computing. These provide an ideal environment for students to test theories and master practical skills; it also provides an opportunity for students to gain industry standard qualifications in related areas. The CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) modules are integrated into the curriculum which provides an added value to the programme.The Stamford IET Student’s Chapter serves as a platform and channel for broadening the networks of students through activities which connects and relates to professional engineers in various disciplines and also university students both locally and globally.
Our staff and students have a strong track record of success. Our students are encouraged to take up internships during semester breaks. This provides them with real world working experiences. The school also organises various extra–curricular activities such as field trips, projects, sports, seminars, Technical Talks and workshops. Our graduates hold key positions in leading companies such as Panasonic, Shell, Western Digital, Motorola, Freescale, CSA, Exxon Mobil, Maxis and Dell. All of our programmes are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
